The shelf unit consists of at least two vertical panels (2,4) with a series of horizontal shelves between them. The vertical panels are folded to form side and rear sections (8,10), each with a supporting edge (12,14). Each of the shelves has at least one groove in its underside corresponding to the thickness of the vertical panels, and the aperture (12,14) in the vertical panel which receives the shelf is offset downwards by the depth of the groove. The vertical panels of the shelf unit are made from a material which can be folded and/or rolled, such as a metal, polymethacrylate or polycarbonate.
