The implant has an overall U-shaped configuration, with a pair of lateral blades (10) connected at one end by a transverse spacer (11). At least one of the blades has a cutting edge (12) at its free end, and the blades may be of unequal lengths. The upper and lower longitudinal edges of the blades are formed with teeth (13) to give the implant a harpoon-type configuration. A threaded longitudinal hole may be formed in the thickness of the transverse spacer, configured for reception of an impact driver tool. Elongated openings (14) are formed in the central portion of each blade.
