System for tooth drilling with protection against HIV virus
摘要
The drill (1) is joined to the hand piece (5) via a bush containing a bearing (12). A protective element (2) forms a watertight seal via an O-ring with the handpiece. The bottom sleeve (16) of the protective element surrounds the drill. A drop of oil is put on the enlarged top (7) of the drill but before fixing. Coolant outlets are provided which feed through the shaft into the drill area bringing cooling fluid or compressed air to cool the drill bit.The drop of oil around the drill forms a seal against unwanted ingress of bacteria or fluid. Another form of the device has an oil or grease reservoir within the shaft of the instrument where a compressed air operated piston feeds a constant supply of oil or grease to a collar around the drill bit forming a barrier against ingress of fluid.
