PURPOSE: To perform recording without generating trouble by controlling the feed of a recording medium so as to preliminarily feed the recording medium by the predetermined distance corresponding to the movement of the recording medium generated during the recovery processing of an ink emitting state accompanied by driving in the direction reverse to the moving direction of the recording medium before the recovery processing of the ink emitting state is executed. CONSTITUTION: At the time of recording, the feed motor being the feed drive system of recording paper 5 also drives a recovery system performing recovery processing for keeping and recovering the emitting state of the ink emitted from an ink cartridge 3a. When cleaning operation (recovery processing) is automatically or arbitrarily executed in such a state that the recording paper is set, that is, a PE sensor 3i is turned ON, the position B of a pump gear moves to a position I and, therefore, the recording paper 5 is moved in an A'-direction on the way of cleaning operation. The recording paper 5 is preliminarily fed in a direction A so that the PE sensor 3i is not turned OFF even when the recording paper 5 is moved by A'. |
