PURPOSE: To simply detect the emitting orifice inferior to emission of a head by providing a means emitting a treatment soln. insolubilizing or flocculating a colorant in ink from an emitting part and superposing the same on ink in a predetermined recording pixel to record a test pattern. CONSTITUTION: An insolubilizing treatment soln. head records rule patterns with predetermined length successively at every pixels corresponding to respective emitting orifices stepwise (a) while a Bk(black) ink recording head uses all of emitting orifices to perform solid recording (b). When these patterns are synthesized (c) to be recorded on recording paper, an insolubilizing treatment soln. and ink are superposed one upon another at a part where the treatment soln. is recorded and only this part becomes high in recording reflection density or a hue is slightly changed according to circumferences and, therefore, it can be visually judged whether the treatment soln. is normally emitted. That is, the density difference between patterns to be superposed one upon another can be detected as different one in comparison with a pattern in a good emitted state.
