PURPOSE: To form a clear coating film layer high in adhesion on the surface of a noble metal plating layer. CONSTITUTION: A plating layer contg. at least nickel is formed on a base material, a noble metal plating layer is formed on the plating layer so as to partially expose the plating layer, a chromate film is formed on the part in which the same plating layer is exposed, and a clear coating film layer is formed on the chromate film and noble metal plating layer to obtain a decorative body. Since the noble metal plating layer is formed in such a manner that the surface of the plating layer contg. nickel as a substrate is partially exposed, by executing chromating treatment, the chromate film is not formed on the surface of the noble metal plating layer and the chromate film selectively formed on the surface of the exposed plating layer contg. nickel as a substrate is formed, by which the adhesion between the formed chromate film and clear coating film layer is increased to obtain the decorative body in which the noble metal plating high in durability is formed.
