The detector senses when the remote control typically of a TV set, is activated for use. A counter records the number of detections during a predetermined time. If the number exceeds the limit an indication that "zapping" is taking place is given to the user. The detector senses infrared light from the remote control unit. The indication of zapping may be given acoustically, optically or via a jammer transmitter. The transmitter is activated for a time period during which use of the remote control unit is inhibiting the period being random in duration. |
