PURPOSE: To effectively cut thick steel material by using low output laser. CONSTITUTION: A laser beam is condensed just before an outlet of a nozzle 6 by using a lens 4 and the surface of the work 10 is irradiated with the laser beam so that the same is widened toward the end after passing the outlet of the nozzle. At this time, the heating is continued until the surface temperature of the portion to be cut in the work 10 attains an intermediate temperature between the ignition point and the melting point thereof. At the same time, oxygen or oxygen-rich compressed gas is fed from an inflow port 8 of gas formed in a lens holder 2, is injected to the work 10 and, thereby, the work 10 is cut. |
