PURPOSE: To obtain a pyrolytic boron nitride container stably usable for a long period of time because of uniform temperature distribution in heating from the outside and no release of a supporting substrate from a radiant light absorbing layer and no release of the radiant light absorbing layer from a heat insulating layer and a protecting layer by external force. CONSTITUTION: In a pyrolytic boron nitride container obtained by wholly or partially providing the outside and/or the inside of a supporting substrate comprising a pyrolytic boron nitride with a radiant light absorbing layer and supplying the outermost layer and/or the innermost layer with a heat insulating layer or a protecting layer, the surface roughness Ra on the surface of the supporting substrate and the radiant light absorbing layer is made to be >=1μm and <=5μm and Rmax is made to be >=10μm and <=30μm.
