<p>PURPOSE: To produce a mold for forming an optical element free from occurrence of a defect such as peeling of an intermediate layer, crack and scratch even used in press molding for many times and very high in durability, and to provide a production method thereof. CONSTITUTION: In a mold used for press molding of the optical element consisting of glass, the mold for forming the optical element has the intermediate layer between a mold base material and a forming surface layer and a mixing layer in which the concn. of at least one kind or more of elements constituting the mold base material is reduced from the mold base material side to the intermediate layer side and the concn. of at least one kind or more of elements constituting the intermediate layer is reduced from the intermediate layer side to the mold base material side.</p> |
