PURPOSE: To obtain an optical fiber having high quality by providing a resin supply pipe with pressure gages near the upstream end and downstream end thereof and controlling the tap. of a resin heater in accordance with the comparison of the difference between the respective measured pressures and a preset differential pressure. CONSTITUTION: The UV resin of a resin tank 3 heated by a heater 6 for circulating hot water is forcibly fed under a prescribed pressure through the resin supply pipe 2 to a coating applicator 1 heated by a heater 4. The pressures PA, PB measured by the pressure gages 7, 8 installed near the upstream end and downstream end of the resin supply pipe 2 are inputted to an arithmetic unit 9 which determines the pressure differenceΔP=PA-PB. An instruction signal is emitted to a temp. controller 10 of the heater in such a manner that the pressure difference AP is equaled to the preset reference pressure differenceΔPstd . A control signal is then outputted from the temp. controller 10 in such a manner that the temp. freshly set in a heat source 11 for the heater is attained. The supply of the resin always with a same viscosity to the coating applicator 1 is made possible by this system and the optical fiber having the high quality is obtd. by uniform application without contg. air bubbles.
