PURPOSE: To reduce the sizes of a housing, backup roll bearings, load cells, rolling reduction devices, spindles, etc., with a rolling plant for sheet materials arranged with heaters for the front ends of the sheet materials which decrease the load on rolling mills at the time of biting of the sheet materials in the rolling mills. CONSTITUTION: While a truck 4 is made to travel at the same speed as the traveling speed of the sheet material 30, the sheet material 30 heated to, for example, 900 to 1000 deg.C and sent to the rolling mill 20 is clamped by upper and lower clamping cylinders 6 and clamps 5 on the inlet side of the rolling mill and its front end is heated to about 1200 deg.C by upper and lower high-frequency coils 1. The front end is unclamped just before the rolling mill and is bitten between the upper and lower work rolls 21 formed with a roll gap (g) corresponding to the thickness (t) of the sheet material 39.
