The mine system has a number of mines (M) distributed throughout a minefield, each mine having a controlled arming and disabling facility. A memory (R) within each mine is loaded via a reception device with an arming or disabling signal, with the arming signal also fed to a time register (LZ), indexed by a clock signal generator. The disabling signal is transmitted from a mine clearance device (RM) and received by all mines within the minefield, for switching into the disabled mode and resetting of the time register. Pref. each mine transmits a response signal (16) in response to an interrogation signal (15) from the mine clearance device indicating its condition, with display of the obtained response signals according to a defined protocol.
