A method for treating hypothermia or hyperthermia patients is presented wherein the upper torso of the patient is maintained in close contact with a wet absorbent material (50) in a vest-like garment (10) that carries a water supply to maintain the absorbent material (50) wet to effect sensible heat transfer between the patient and the water. In one embodiment, evaporative cooling is moderated by an overgarment of a waterproof material (40). |
