The measurement apparatus utilises a dynamic measurement method, and involves a cuboid, cylindrical or cone-shaped monolithic or compressed-particle sample in a vacuum or pressure chamber, where a very short pressure pulse, of known but adjustable magnitude, is applied of a non-condensing and absorbable fluid. A sequence of measurements is made using a fast fluid pressure measurement device of the pressure in the chamber containing the test sample to determine permeability, transport diffusion, porosity etc.
