A starting aid device for a vehicle with a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine. The device includes a means for detecting, after the engine has been off for a short time, the cylinder in which the piston has just passed top dead centre in the compression stage, a means for generating a high voltage regardless of the position of the rotating assembly in the off condition, and a means for applying the high voltage to the detected cylinder so that a spark is applied in said cylinder filled with the explosive fuel mixture.
