The device clamps a metal sheet between a fixed machine table, and a movable upper cheek, and bends that portion of the sheet which projects beyond the clamp. It has a tool table, which can move on a defined path, and which has a rotary mounting for a bending tool. One edge of the tool engages with the underside of the clamp, and the other presses against the projecting portion of the sheet. The cheek and the tool table are connected by a linear actuator, so that the workpiece is clamped and bent as the actuator contracts.
