Protecting against unauthorised use of communications terminals

The communications terminal (KE) contains in general additional equipment (ZG) with a reading unit (LE) for the identity card, and, at the network point (NP) of the communications system, an input unit or keyboard (EE) for commands and an output unit (AE) for information. The authorised user of the communications terminal is warned to guard against unauthorised use. Then, he starts up the additional equipment, inserts his identity card, with his personal number (PIN). He builds up, by selecting a specific number, a connection to the additional unit and so an exchange station authorised for him.
