The invention concerns a single-flow friction-type vacuum pump (1) with a housing (4, 5) in which are located, in succession along the longitudinal axis of the pump, an inlet (2), the pumping surfaces (8,9), and a drive motor (11). In order to provide effective air cooling, the invention proposes that the housing walls are fitted with air-intake and air-discharge apertures and that a ventilation fan (23) is integrated in the housing (4, 5).
