The circuit contains at least one semiconducting switch (TS) for switching the load (10) on and off depending on an on/off signal and at least a second semiconducting switch (TF) for opening/blocking a free-running circuit (14) parallel to the load. A first driver circuit (16) for the first switch provides a delayed (TD1) on signal (32) and a non-delayed off signal (32). A second driver circuit (21) for the second switch reproduces the off signal with a defined delay (TD2) for opening the free-running circuit and reproduces the on signal with no delay to block the free-running circuit.
