The invention relates to the marking and identification of ammunition cartridges. An annular plate (10) with two conductive rings (11, 12), which are separated by a resistive portion (13), is applied on a base plate (3) of an ammunition cartridge (1). The resistance between the two rings (11, 12) identifies the type of ammunition which the cartridge (1) contains.
