The invention relates to a disc brake that is less likely to squeak during braking. A guide portion (3) on a torque member (2) has a point (A) at which the force counteracting the braking force is produced. This point (A) is disposed nearer to the center of the disc (D) than is a line (L) passing the center (O) of the brake cylinder (4) and extending tangentially from the disc. Thus, due to the tangential force (Fax,Fbx) produced during braking, an angular moment (M2) is produced in the same direction as the angular moment (M1) produced due to the radial components (Fay,Fby) of the braking force. The sum of these two angular moments (M1,M2) acts to restrain the rotation of the pads (1). The movement of the pads (1) are thus strongly restrained, so that they are less likely to vibrate. Thus, it is possible to prevent squeaking of the brake resulting from vibrations of the pads (1). <IMAGE> |
