The method involves mixing incoming signals with a free running oscillator to produce an IF signal. The signals are then converted to baseband (21) using an algorithm. The output response is sampled at a time interval (Te). Individual correlations are found for each frame, and an applicable weighting (23-29) applied. Each weighting is passed to a multiplier (30-37) where the weightings are applied to the complex conjugate of the sampled signals. The resultant outputs are summed in two summers (38,39) and absolute values (40,41) produced. An optimisation stage is carried out over several frames to find the synchronisation position. |
