A construction of dot matrix print head is disclosed in which a plurality of body elements (16), each carrying print wire actuators (22, 23), are arranged in stacked formation. The body elements (16) and the arrangement of actuators 922, 23) is identical so that by offsetting the body elements (16) relative to adjacent body elements (16), print wires (30) actuated by actuators of one body member (16) are inter-digitated with print wires (30) actuated by actuators of a body member (16) adjacent said one body member. This construction permits the actuators to be accommodated in a print head of relatively small transverse dimensions. <IMAGE>
