PURPOSE: To allocate respective characters in a character area so that vertical and/or vertical intervals by performing allocation computation on the basis of the sizes of the respective characters and taking the centers of the respective characters included in an input character string as reference. CONSTITUTION: A control unit 1 controls a data input device 2, a command input device 3, a file device 4, an arithmetic unit 5, a display device 6, and a printer 7. When a user gives an instruction to execute allocation of the character string with a mouse being a command input device 3 after inputting the character string, the arithmetic unit 5 computes the allocation positions of the respective characters under the control of the control unit 1 on the basis of information on the start position of the character string and the character codes and character sizes of the respective characters in the character string in the file device 4. By instructions of this control unit 1, the display device 6 substitutes the respective characters in the character string for a character string which is displayed so far on the basis of the computation result, and display them. Therefore, the respective characters in the character string are allocated on the basis of their centers. |
