<p>PURPOSE: To enhance the safety and convenience through control in compliance with a driver's will by releasing vehicle speed control when a brake pedal is foot-operated, and also interrupting the release of the vehicle speed control at the time of specified conditions such that the brake pedal is slightly foot- operated by a driver by a mistake or for precaution. CONSTITUTION: This vehicle speed control device is provided with an inter- vehicle distance detection device 7, a throttle opening sensor 11, a a vehicle speed sensor 12, a brake switch 16, a set switch 19 for setting a target vehicle speed and the like to input the output signals thereof to a control unit 4. Vehicle control is performed so that a vehicle speed is kept constant at the time of constant speed travelling and an inter-vehicle distance between one's own car and an advance car is kept constant at the time of follow-up control. In that case, it is provided with a release means 31 for releasing vehicle speed control when a brake pedal is foot-operated. The release means 31 is constituted so as not to release the vehicle speed control when the brake pedal is slightly foot-operated by a driver by a mistake or for precaution or when a noncancellation switch is kept in ON operation.</p> |
