PURPOSE: To accurately form a required toner band on an image carrier. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a 1st control means 8 for turning off an non-image part discharge lamp 5 when the light quantity of an exposure lamp falls after the lapse of a specified time by taking a timing of turning off the exposure lamp 1a as a reference, a 2nd control means 9 for synchronizing the center of a turn-off time of the non-image part discharge lamp 5 with a part having the smallest light quantity in a period from the rising of the light quantity to the falling by turning off/on the exposure lamp 1a in the case of copying plural sheets, a 3rd control means 10 for controlling the formation of an electrostatic latent image in the toner band on the image carrier 2 by using the non-image part discharge lamp 5 when an image exposure part 1 is in back scanning operation and a 4th control means 12 for cleaning the toner band, formed by developing the electrostatic latent image of a prescribed width formed by the 3rd control means 10 by a developing device 3, by a cleaning device 4 under the control of the 1st control means 8, or the 2nd control means 9. |
