PURPOSE: To always set S/N at a high level and to perform reception with small transmission error by setting the optimum pass length on the RAKE receiver of a reception station even when radio environment changes. CONSTITUTION: In the base station, the radio transmission characteristic of a forward link is measured from the reception electric field intensity of a radio signal arriving from a mobile station via a reverse link by a radio transmission line measuring part 18b. Information representing the optimum pass length to be set on the RAKE receiver of the mobile station is generated based on a measured result, and such optimum pass length information is given to the mobile station via the forward link. While, in the mobile station, the optimum pass length information is sampled by a pass length information sampling part, and the number of taps of the transversal filter of the RAKE receiver is set based on the optimum pass length information. |
