PURPOSE: To improve a target property at the time of welding a solid wire for welding. CONSTITUTION: The wire having a diameter (d) is provided with (i) piece of longitudinal grooves of 0.1d in depth of a diametral direction in the longitudinal direction. The sum of the positive components in the X direction of the groove depth when arbitrary X-Y coordinates having the central axis as origin in the cross section of the wire are assumed is defined asΣXi . The ratio of the difference between the max. value and min. value to the wire diameter obtd. when the wire is rotated from 0 deg. to 360 deg. around the origing of the X-Y coordinates as the axis is regulated within a specific range, by which the bending rigidity is provided with directivity.
