PURPOSE: To obtain a spindle motor which can be improved in productivity by remarkably reducing the number of finishing processes of a frame and improving the cuttability at the finishing time. CONSTITUTION: A spindle motor is provided with a case section having an almost cup-like shape, a frame 20 in which a core holding section 24 which holds a stator core 5 and a shaft section 21 are integrally formed, a hub 10 which is rotatably supported by bearings 7 and 7' put on the shaft section 21 of the frame 20, a driving magnet 4 which rotates together with the hub 10 in one body, and the stator core 5 which is held by the core holding section 24 of the frame 20 in a state where the core 5 is faced to the magnet 4 and the hub 10 is rotated by the electromagnetic action between the magnet 4 and the stator core 5. The frame 20 is composed of a sintered material obtained by sintering mixed metal powder prepared by adding a powder of one or more kinds of metals selected from among silicon, copper, and magnesium to aluminum powder as an additive. |
