PURPOSE: To obtain a low-cost and simple image display method which distinctly display color images in a dark place as well by using a translucent image carrying member having a reversible recording material disposed in tight contact or correspondence with regular repetitive translucent color patterns having non-transmissible parts. CONSTITUTION: Thin layers of red R, green G and blue B are regularly and repetitively arranged on a glass substrate 11 and a black matrix 12 is interposed between the respective colors. Further, the reversible thermosensitive recording material 14 reversibly changed in translucency by a heating temp. and a transparent protective layer 19 are formed on the opposite surface. The transmittance of the heated parts changes when the reversible thermosensitive recording material 14 is heated by a recording head control.led according to the image data formed to meet the positions and sizes of the regular repetitive translucent color patterns. The translucent image carrying member 10 formed with the parts varying in the transmittance in such a manner is irradiated with back light 23 from the side having the color patterns. |
