PURPOSE: To provide a method for industrially advantageously correcting color filters which are impaired in flatness by the ruggedness formed in consequence of intrusion of foreign matter, flocculated matter of pigments, etc., into colored layers to such color filters as to allow production of a multicolor display device having a display grade which is by no means inferior to the display grade of a multicolor display device produced by the color filters which are not impaired in the flatness and do not, therefore, require correction at all. CONSTITUTION: This process for producing the color filters by forming the colored layers on the surface of a substrate comprises correcting the color filters by peeling the colored layers of the parts impaired in the flatness by the ruggedness formed in consequence of the intrusion of the foreign matter, flocculated matter of the pigments, etc., into the colored layers by irradiation with, for example, laser beams and applying a negative type photoresist compsn. contg. coloring materials in the whole of at least the peeled parts, then exposing the coating from the rear surface of the substrate and developing the compsn. |
