PURPOSE: To realize stable weft inserting by suppressing occurrence of excess sagging between a contact type or nip-type weft pulling apparatus and a weft inserting nozzle. CONSTITUTION: In weft-pulling apparatus 2 installing a rotary roller 10 between a length measuring storage apparatus 5 and a weft inserting nozzle 11 and pulling weft 3 by rotation of the rotary roller 10 in weft inserting, arrival timingθ1 of weft 3 is detected by an arrival sensor 15 installed on the anti-yarn-feeding side and a feed-out timingθ2 exhibited when weft 3 having a length L0 corresponding to travelling distance of weft 3 from weft inserting position to detection position of the arrival sensor 15 is fed out from the weft pulling apparatus 2 is obtained and tractive force of weft pulling apparatus 2 is controlled so that the arrival timingθ1, the feeding timingθ2 and the differenceΔθ0 of previously set permissible timing keeps a prescribed relationship expressed by the formula (θ1-θ2) <=Δθ0 and thereby, excess sagging of the weft 3 is suppressed.
