PURPOSE: To adjust variance in image forming position on a sheet without a special sensor, in each tray. CONSTITUTION: The image position correction system consists of: a first process fro forming images on a prescribed sheet, fed from a sheet tray 2b selected according to the selection of image position correction mode, in an image formation sequence used for a sheet of the maximum size, and for obtaining a copy of a pattern read from an estimation pattern storage means 7; a second process for operating a distance from a sheet end to an estimation mark by the use of a distance calculation means 5 based on image data obtained by reading the copy by the use of an original-reading means 2a, and for operating a required correction value which is based on the distance; and a third process for displaying the operated distance to the estimation mark as the correction value onto a display means 6, and for correcting a parameter, stored in an image position correction parameter storage means 7, based on the displayed correction value. |
