Stabilising medium for alphagst in urine for use in an enzyme immunoassay

A stabilising medium for alpha-glutathione S transferase (aGST) in urine comprises a non-enzyme protein, a chelating agent and a buffer such that the medium has a pH 7.0-7.5 and the medium is effective to prevent loss of aGST immunological activity. - The non-enzyme protein (in amt. of 10 % w/v) ia an albumin, partic. a mixt. of BSA and gelatin hydrolysate. The chelating agent is pref. an alkali metal salt (pref. NaCl) of EDTA (in amt. of 4-5 % w/v). The buffer is esp. Hepes (pH 7.3). The medium pref. also contains a protease inhibitor (e.g. aprotinin). The aGST is pref. detected using anti-aGST IgG-horseradish peroxidase conjugate in a stabilising medium (pH6.5) contg. cytochrome C, serum albumin, a surfactant, a polyol (concn. 5-15 % w/v) and a buffer.
