The flow adjusting adapter is for using in a swimming pool wall skimmer having a body, a drain inlet for receiving a flow of drain water, a surface inlet for receiving a flow of surface water, a skimming device for transforming the flow of surface water into a flow of skimmed water, and a pump outlet for draining a flow of skimmed water and the flow of drain water. The flow adjusting adapter includes an adjustable drain inlet closure for closing partially or entirely the drain inlet and thus reducing or stopping the flow of drain water received by the drain inlet, and a partition insertable into the body for separating the surface inlet from the pump outlet. The partition has an adjustable aperture for channeling and reducing or stopping the flow of skimmed water.
