The present invention concerns a membrane-electrode composite comprising a membrane containing a polymer cation exchanger with carboxylic, phosphonic or sulphonic acid groups, the polymer cation exchanger being soluble in a solvent; metals in finely divided form, which catalyse the production of water from H2 and O2, are deposited on at least one side of the membrane. The metal-coated part of the membrane is porous but has no closed pores, and the metal can also be present in the pores. |
