A machine for the finish-grinding of the cams of camshafts comprises a rotationally driven camshaft receiver, mutually opposed toolholder arms (2) disposed along the camshaft toolholders (3) disposed at the lower end of the toolholder arms (2) and clamped grindstones (4), disposed in the toolholders (3) which are equipped with a two-jaw chuck. The lower jaw (6) of the chuck has an operating lever (7) and can be swung away against the action of the spring (8) to release the clamped grindstones (4). A stop element (9) can be adjusted between the toolholder arms (2) from an inoperative position into a stop position (as shown) by means of a drive. A plunger (10) can be adjusted in the stop element (9) by means of a plunger drive to act upon the operating levers (7) to release the grindstones (4) to be adjusted or replaced.
