The fastener has a housing (26) which is flat, rectangular and open at the back. Its vertical side walls have openings that form a slit for insertion of the waistband. A pin (24) protrudes into the lit. It is chamfered on one side and mounted spring-cushionedly. The band can be pulled through the slit in one direction because it lifts the pin due to its chamfer. Two buttons (28) are on opposite sides of the fastener. Their ends intrude into the spring mounting of the pin and lift this. Then the band can be pulled from the fastener. The pin is fixed to one end of a resilient tongue (27) which other end is attached to the inside of the housing. When the buttons are pressed their chamfered inner ends grip the tongue and pull it to the inner wall of the housing.
