Movement detection system for objects in a natural background

The system uses a real time image sequence generated by a scanning electrooptic sensor with an evaluation system. Each sensor generated image is sampled by three matrices, where each matrix has a reference input, different for each matrix. Each matrix delivers maximum and minimum brightness levels. Each matrix mid-point pixel is marked when the pixel brightness level exceeds a threshold brighter than the matrix reference, and secondly when the deviation of the reference level is less than a fixed threshold, where the deviation is proportional to the difference of maximum and minimum. The neighbouring pixels are marked according to a further algorithm.
