The fuel tank (10) has at least one flexible wall section (12, 13). Pref. the flexibility is achieved by a corrugated profile (17-20) formed in a circumferential (17, 18), longitudinal (19) or offset (2) direction of the tank wall. Pref. the tank walls facing the direction of impact are dished (27). The tank is pref. constructed from metal and or plastic. At least one layer is made from metal if a sandwich-layered construction is used for the walls.
