摘要 The vehicle transmission is monitored by a processor which controls the engine torque in relation to the throttle control setting. If the torque control is at idling for a preset time, with the vehicle free running, the system control disengages the engine from the transmission via a clutch. At the same time the engine torque is dropped to minimise fuel use while maintaining the drive for the ancillary equipment e.g. generator, air conditioning equipment, etc. The fuel saving engine mode is set after a preset time at idling and holds the engine speed below 1000 rpm. The system monitors the vehicle dynamics and reinstates the clutch and increases the throttle setting when the throttle is activated again.
