<p>A reaction vessel for biologically decomposing a material comprises a frame, an airtight housing (30) rotatably mounted on the frame (20) defining an enclosure (31) therein, and a device for controlling environmental conditions within the enclosure (31) so that biological decomposition of the material can occur at a controlled rate. Air is circulated through the enclosure (31) in a closed loop so that air leaving the enclosure (31) will be recirculated back into the enclosure. In an alternative embodiment (figure 5), an apparatus for biologically decomposing a material, comprising a frame (310) and a substantially airtight housing (320) rotatably mounted on the frame (310) is disclosed. The housing (320) has a first outside surface (324) and a first inside surface (327), a first end and a second end (328), the first inside surface (327) defining an enclosure (325) therein. The housing (320) also defines a plurality of openings therethrough. A first air header (340) supplies air to, and a second air header (330) removes air from, a plurality of air manifolds (350) disposed external to the housing (320) and in fluid communication with the enclosure (325) through the openings defined by the housing (320).</p> |
