The mobile maintenance unit to travel along the workstations of a ring spinner or twister, to remove underwindings from the lower winding surfaces of the spindles, has a number of electro-motors. The power for the motors is supplied by a battery (35). A control (37) at the assembly (14) operates the electromotors (16,27,32).
