Method of cleaning soil which has been soaked in oil

The soil is placed in a container in which it is heated with a mixture of 50 percent Oleum Gaultheria procumbers and 50 per cent methylsalicylate. Alternately it may be heated only with one or the other of these substances. Soil and chemical are slowly and continuously stirred at normal temperature. The soil is kept in the container for approximately fourteen days after which it is separated into clean soil and a liquid which consists of oil which has been dissolved in the cleaning medium. The cleaning medium is separated by evaporation and recycled.
