An electrically driven air pump consists of a housing with a pump on one side and an electric motor on the other side. The pump side of the housing is closed with a lid. The lid (7) is made of plastic and has an axial wall (22) metal reinforcement (23). The outer mantle surface and its edge (24) protrudes out of the plastic or pump lid wall. The inner mantle surface or inner edge (25) is interspersed by numerous star shaped penetrations (26).
