The table legs (4,5) consist of paired V-shaped swivel legs carried at their ends by coaxially spaced swivel joints (3) also used to swivel the table top (2) from use to folded etc. conditions. Each swivel bearing (30) has a swivel end-stop between the respective leg and table top, the stop taking effect in a midway setting so as to entrain the table legs with the movement of the table top. Table top and legs fold down parallel when not in use and in the passive position the leg feet etc. bear down at spaced points. The axis of the joints (3) passes through the centre of gravity of the table as a whole. A manually operated arrester between the top and legs of the table moves against a re-setting force when engaged in the working position. The leg joints have leg connections (8) on their plates and move along one another in action. The leg connections (6,7) per joint lie in the same plane and comprise socketed (9) plug-in connections which extend (10) towards the joint concerned to terminate in swivel ramps (11), each extension in turn fitted with lateral guide plates (12).
