RIGID UNDERFRAME FOR A DESK WITH A REVERSIBLE TOP

A rigid underframe (1) enabling the attachment of a reversible desk top (2) and comprising two uprights (3). Each upright (3) supports a lower bracket (4) consisting of a horizontal flange (4a) and a vertical flange (4b) which widens out upwardly to form the vertical flange (5b) of an upper bracket (5) having a horizontal flange (5a) that extends towards the other upright (3) and rests on two horizontal beams (6) attached at right angles to the vertical flanges (5b) and held in parallel positions by two crossbars (8) each of which is supported on and attached to one horizontal flange (4a), thus forming a rigid frame for supporting the top (2) fitted onto the horizontal flanges (5a) by means of matching lower recesses (13a) at the ends of the underside (2a) of the top (2). Desks provided with such an underframe (1) are also disclosed.
