The invention relates to a gel cassette (gel cartridge) comprising two glass plates and an essentially H- or U- shaped spacer. Preferably, one of the two glass plates is provided with sensors for measuring at least one gel parameter, such as the potential or the temperature. The spacer, for example, consists of two parts which are positioned vertically in the operational state and are joined to one another by a horizontal part which is essentially perpendicular thereto and in use is substantially horizontal, the horizontal part being provided with teeth. The invention further relates to the spacer, a glass plate for use in an electrophoresis cassette, provided with sensors for measuring one or more gel parameters, an electrophoretic apparatus comprising a buffer tank consisting of a top buffer compartment and a bottom buffer compartment, connection points for applying a voltage between the top buffer compartment and the bottom buffer compartment, and integral means for flushing a remaining space between the glass plates underneath the gel, and an assembly of a gel cassette and an electrophoretic apparatus according to the invention. |
