To automate the roving joining operation, the device (1) comprises a tubular guide element (3) of open cross-section and two nozzles (4, 5) positioned at its ends. The nozzles (4, 5) selectively and alternately feed compressed air into the interior of said tubular guide element (3). The first nozzle (4) is inclined such as to also generate a component in the direction of advancement of the depleting roving.
